Introductory Meeting of LG&RDD Department with Minister of LG&RDD

Under the chairmanship of Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, an introductory session of the Department of Local Government and Local Government Board was held. The session was attended by Secretary for Local Government and Rural Development, Syed Shahid Mohi- ud-Din, Director General for Local Government and Rural Development, Sardar Adnan Khurshid, and Secretary for Local Government Board, Sardar Aqeel Mahmood, along with other relevant officers. While addressing the session, the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development emphasized the establishment of financial and administrative discipline within the Department of Local Government and Rural Development. He articulated that the initiation of reforms will be carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development. He stated that the Department of Local Government is a crucial state institution, and it is essential to restore public trust in it.
He marked that according to the vision of Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq, reforms are necessary in this department, and everyone should be made accountable to the public. Transparency and the promotion of a culture of merit are crucial
The Minister urged Municipal Corporations, Municipal Committees, and Town Committees to provide standardized services to urban areas and increase their sources of revenue. He emphasized the need to break the status quo and bring transparent and people-friendly changes within the system. During the briefing session, Secretary for Local Government and Rural Development, Syed Shahid Mohi- ud-Din, provided details on the department’s development programs and the work of elected representatives of local municipalities. Director General for Local Government and Rural Development, Sardar Adnan Khurshid, briefed the Minister on the department’s historical background, administrative and developmental budget, new projects and challenges facing the department.
