Computerized Registration of Birth/Deaths Launched

LG&RDD has launched computerized registration of births & deaths with technical support of UNICEF and Ministry of Planning, Development & Reforms Government of Pakistan. LG&RDD has developed an online application of computerized registration of births/deaths and launched the application on December 16, 2019. Secretary LG&RDD  Ejaz Ahmed Khan along with the Dr. Muhammad Asif, Chief Health Ministry of Planning Development & Reforms and Ms. Mechila Pasini, Chief Protection UNICEF launched digital registration system at Muzaffarabad.

Secretary LG&RDD while addressing the ceremony mentioned that the  vital statistics shall enable Government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir for informed planning and decision making. He informed that LG&RDD has established 54 centers in AJ&K for digital registrations, however, in future a total of 206 centers shall be established.

While addressing the ceremony, Dr. Muhammad Asif, Chief Health Ministry of Planning Development & Reforms  appreciated the efforts of LG&RDD. He mentioned that Ministry is willing to provide resource to GoAJ&K to enhance coverage and ensure completeness with respect to civil registration system.

Ms. Mechaila Pasini Chief Child Protection UNICEF Islamabad informed that UNICEF is committed to register each and every child within shortest possible time. She mentioned that UNICEF is committed to the slogan “Count Every Child” and UNICEF shall provide resources to LG&RDD to ensure timely registrations.

Ms. Muqadissa Mehreen Child Protection Specialist UNICEF mentioned that LG&RDD should take other departments such as Health Department, Education Department, Social Welfare Department and other stakeholders to ensure completeness.

Director General LG&RDD, Sardar Gulzaman Khan thanked Ministry of Planning Development & Reforms and UNICEF for their support for the purpose. Secretary LG&RDD presented souvenirs to Dr. Asif (Chief Health MoPDR), Ms. Mechila Pasini (Chief CP UNICEF), Ms. Muqadissa Mehreen (CP Specialist UNICEF), Ms. Irrum Abid, Dr. Farrah Ashraf, Mr. Imran Majeed and Mr. Arsalan (the representatives of MoPD&R, GoP).
