AJ&K Symposium on CRVS

Azad Government of the State of Jammu & Kashmir organized a symposium on CRVS in AJ&K on October 15, 2018 at Muzaffarabad through Local Government & Rural Development Department, the leading agency for CRVS in AJ&K. More than 120 participants from various organizations including Planning Commission of Pakistan, UNICEF, Provincial Governments, NADRA, GoAJK Line Departments, Academia, Bar Councils, Media, NGOs and Civil Society attended the Symposium.

Main objectives of Symposium are given below:

  • To bring   multiple CRVS stakeholders and partners on the same page on the usefulness, status, issues and possible options for an optimally functioning robust CRVS
  • To learn from experiences of other provincial governments for acceleration and enhancement of vital events registration and ensuing vital statistics of national importance.
  • To deliberate on prospects for institutionalization of a civil registration process and scope of its functioning, information sharing and cooperation.
  • To deliberate on modalities to enhance coverage and to address issues for registration of vital events e.g. registration of vulnerable groups, illegal migrants/temporary residents etc.

The day long business of symposium was divided in four sessions i.e. inaugural session, learning/presentation session, group work/recommendations session and concluding/closing session.
